Doris Stephens Gibson

Doris was born on May 9, 1943, in Little Rock, Arkansas to Judson and Ruth Stephens. She had two brothers and two sisters. After high school, Doris went on to earn a master’s degree in nursing. She worked as a nurse for many years.

Doris married her husband, John Gibson, on January 2, 1965, in Little Rock, Arkansas. Together they had two children, Eric Gibson and Julie Gibson Dietrich. The family lived in a variety of places over the years including California, Houston, Texas, Atlanta, Georgia, Schoenaich, Germany and Colorado.

Doris was a loving friend, sister, mother, and daughter. She was always welcoming and inviting everyone to join. She was a funny and sociable person. In her free time, she loved to paint and travel.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Judson and Ruth Stephens; husband, John Robert Gibson; brother, James Stephens; and brother-in-law, Steve Storm.

Doris is survived by her children, Jon Eric (Colleen) Gibson and Julie (Tom) Dietrich; her grandchildren, Zachary Dietrich, Katherine Dietrich, Kelly Gibson, Annie Gibson, Olivia Dietrich, and Megan Gibson; and her siblings, Joyce (Bonnie) Tatom, Linda Storm, and Frank (Kay) Stephens.

A celebration of life will be held at 4:30pm on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at the Cypress Social, 7103 Cock of the Walk Drive, North Little Rock, Arkansas.
