

Doug Walker, 78, passed away in Longmont, Colorado on August 9, 2014. Doug was born on October 6, 1935 in Deposit, NY to Clarence and Gertrude (Stanton) Walker. He graduated from Windsor Central High School in 1953 where he met his wife, Marthalee Crawford. Doug married Marty on June 16, 1956. They were married for 58 years.Doug worked for and retired from IBM after 30 years of service. He and his family were relocated several times around the country with IBM before settling down in Longmont, Colorado. After retiring, Doug traveled the U.S. by motorcycle with his wife Marty. They managed properties in Estes Park for the next 13 years.Doug was a member of the Lions, Elks, 32nd degree Mason, Shriners, Eastern Star, a Rainbow Dad, Little League coach for 10 years, Deacon and Elder of the Presbyterian Church of Hamilton Square, N.J. and a member of Longs Peak United Methodist Church of Longmont, CO.Doug loved the competition and camaraderie of sports of all kinds and played baseball, softball, basketball, bowling and track and field. Doug was a wonderful, loving and faithful husband, father, friend, neighbor, worker and Christian.Doug was preceded in death by his daughter Wendy Sue. He is survived by: his wife Marthalee (Marty); son, Douglas (Doug) and his wife Kimberly Hughes-Walker; daughter, Deborah (Debbie) Miller; daughter, Elizabeth (Liz) Watson and her husband Mark; Grandchildren, Andrea Peschel-Walker, Danielle Drury, Austin Drury, Daniel Watson, Steven Watson, Matthew Watson and Timothy Watson.A service to celebrate Doug's life will take place at 11:00am Friday, August 15, 2014 at Longs Peak United Methodist Church, 1421 Elmhurst Dr., Longmont. Cremation entrusted to Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. Memorial contributions can be made to Family Hospice or Longs Peak United Methodist Church and sent in care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
