Edwin Lee Vrell

Rev Edwin Lee Vrell passed away October 18, 2013 at his home in Longmont, CO. He was 79 years old. Edwin was born on October 10, 1934 in Chicago, IL to Edwin Lee, Sr. and Alice Lea (Johnson) Vrell. He grew up in Illinois and at the age of 17 joined the Navy where he served in Korea from 1952 “ 1955. During this time he began attending Overly Baptist Church where he gave his life to Jesus and met his future bride, Grace Grammer. After his discharge from the Navy he married Grace in the summer of 1956. Together they attended Missionary College in Nyack, NY and thus began their journey of serving the Lord as a couple. They were married for almost 55 years when she passed away 2 years ago. In 1987, after traveling the world & states, they moved & settled in Longmont, CO until the Lord took them home.Edwin was a well read man who enjoyed studying theology & history, but most of all he loved to share his knowledge with others. He was a missionary in Spain for eight years, Bible teacher and gardener who just finished writing his third book.He believed in home church; and enjoyed walking, gardening, talking, and going to coffee.Edwin was preceded in death by his wife Grace; and his parents.He is survived by his sons Andrew (Judy) Vrell, Victor (Marta) Vrell, and Richard Vrell; his daughter April (Michael) Chiappini; a brother Tony Vrell; seven grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.A memorial service will be held at 1:30 PM Sunday October 20, 2013 at the Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Cremation entrusted to Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. Private inurnment at Fort Logan National Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Rocky Mountain Cancer Center in Longmont.
