Eldor L. Bruns

Eldor L. Bruns of Longmont died May 15, 2011 at Pathways Hospice Care Center in Loveland. He was 86 years old.Eldor was born on May 5, 1925 in Byron, Nebraska, the son of Frederick and Elenora (Blume) Bruns. He moved to Longmont in 1936 from Flagler, Colorado.Eldor married Helen Waneka on September 12, 1954 in Longmont. Eldor was a construction supervisor, working in home construction and remodeling in the Longmont area. A member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Eldor was also a financial secretary and Elder for the church. He enjoyed fishing, camping and woodworking.He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Edgar, Melvin and Wilbur Bruns and a sister, Evelyn Albers.Eldor is survived by his loving wife, Helen Bruns of Longmont; a son, Fred L. Bruns (Maureen) of Loveland; a daughter, Deborah Weakland (Kevin) of Longmont; four grandchildren, Matthew Weakland (Emily), Chad Bruns (Ginny), Ashley Thoma (Brad) and Whitney Weakland and four great-grandsons.A funeral service will be held at 1PM on Thursday, May 19, 2011 at Messiah Lutheran Church. Interment at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Messiah Lutheran Church Organ Fund or Pathways Hospice and can be mailed to Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
