

Elias ?Eli? Peter Paraschos died at home after a courageous battle of lung and bone cancer October 5, 2006 surrounded by his loving family. He loved his Lord, his family and his country in that order. He was 71.Elias was born on March 21, 1935 to Helen (Chuleas) Paraschos and Peter Elias Paraschos in Flint, Michigan where he grew up as the oldest of 9 children. He graduated from Flint Central High School and the Electronics Institute in Detroit, Michigan. He worked for IBM for 34 years retiring in 1990. After retiring he worked and managed the Valley Surplus Store in Longmont. He was also in the U.S. Army-signal Corp from 1958-1960.On March 23, 1958 Eli married Sylvia Miles in Johnstown, New York. They moved their family to Longmont in November 1965 from Pleasant Valley, NY.Elias was an avid elk, deer and antelope hunter and was known for his culinary expertise during these trips. Elias was also an excellent archer. He belonged to many trap shooting teams, National Rifle Association, Boulder Rifle Club and a life member of the North American Hunting Club.Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister Christine Mack.Surviving are his wife of Longmont, son Peter Paraschos, Washington, D.C., daughter Stephanie (James) Schneider, granddaughters Kelly Schneider of Longmont, and Nicole Schneider of New York City; 4 brothers, William Paraschos and his wife Ann of Rutledge, PA, George Paraschos, Michael Paraschos, and Sam Paraschos and his wife Sandy all of Flint, Michigan, 3 sisters Phyllis Garcia and her husband Julian and Cathy Paraschos all of Houston and Joanne Paraschos of Flint, Michigan, many nieces and nephews and a mother-in-law, Helen Miles, Johnstown, NY.Services will be held at 3:00 p.m, Monday, October 9, 2006 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Pastor Steve Berke officiating. A cremation has been entrusted to the Howe Mortuary and Crematory. Since Elias suffered many years from Autoimmune Disease CIDP (Chronic Inflammatory Demyelization Polyneuropathy) donations may be made to the Neuropathy Association in care of Howe Mortuary.Please share your thoughts, memories and condolences with the family at www.howemortuary.com
