

Esther Lutz, age 85, of Longmont died at home on August 1, 2017. Ester was born in 1932 in Ramsey County, North Dakota to Alexander and Mary Anderson. She graduated from high school in Starkweather, ND and went on to graduate from North Dakota State College in Fargo, ND.
Esther was married to Lawrence Lutz on April 10, 1954 in Fargo, ND. While Lawrence was on active duty in Korea, Esther worked as a Home Extension Agent. Upon his return, they lived in Milwaukee, WI, Cheyenne, WY; Daly City and Sacramento, CA; Costa Rica, Central America; and then settled in Denver and Longmont. She has resided in the Longmont community since 1969.
Esther has always been of the Methodist faith. She attended Longmont First United Methodist Church since 1969, where she served on the Administrative Council, several committees and was active in the United Methodist Women. She was a DAR board member, a member of the Longmont Genealogical Society, a former 4-H leader, attended senior center classes and delivered Meals on Wheels to Erie.
Most important in her life were her faith, her family, and her friends. She also enjoyed scrapbooking, reading, travel, sewing, and baking, especially yeast breads.
Esther was preceded in death by her husband in August 1988, and her parents.
She is survived by four daughters: Jeannette (Chris) Peterson, Georgetown, CO; Joanne (Chris) Vande Walle, Masonville, CO; Laurie (Wallace) Meyer, Rathdrum, ID; and Jan (Michael) Carter, Boulder, CO and four grandchildren and three great- grandchildren: Ana, Evan and Esteban Chang of Boulder, CO; David Ramirez of Dubai, UAE; Megan, Jason, Caelyn and Ian Epps of Frederick, CO; and Alana and Steven Lisano of Loveland, CO: two sisters: M. Kathleen (Willard) Hultgren and Charlotte J. Anderson; and extended family and her husband’s family: brother-in-law Roderick Lutz, sister-in-law Genny (Bill), brother-in-law Andrew (Madonna) Brown and sister-in-law LaVonne (Jim) Lutz; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Esther is also survived by three step-grandchildren and their families: Lucas and Melissa Meyer (Madison, Violet and Lilly) of Boise, ID; Veronica and Kelsey Miller (Kalise and Kelvin) of Los Angeles, CA; and Kyle and Britne Meyer (Savanna and Joseph) of Rathdrum, ID.
A visitation will be held on Monday, August 7, from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at Howe Mortuary, 439 Coffman St. Longmont with services a Heart of Longmont Methodist Church, 350 11th Ave, Longmont at 3:00PM Tuesday, August 8th. Interment will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver on August 8, at 11:30AM.
