

Eugene H. Rightsell of Longmont passed away on December 29, 2015 at Hospice of Northern Colorado Care Center, in Greeley surrounded by his family. He was 76.Eugene was born January 1, 1939 in Henderson, Texas to Ernest Esary and Alice Richie (Ferrell) Rightsell. He moved from Rusk Henderson, TX to Longmont, Colorado at the age of 5 and graduated from Longmont High School.Eugene married Mary Alice (Perry) Rightsell in 1960. Eugene served in the Navy for four years on the USS Lexington 16. After a four year apprenticeship, Eugene was a journeyman electrician for 50 years for Local 68 IBEW. He helped build the Eisenhower Tunnel, DIA, multiple power houses in many places across the United States.Eugene was of Baptist faith and past member of B.P.O. Elks #1055, Weld County Trap Club, and Colorado Clays Trap Club where he won the Colorado State Championship in 1973. He enjoyed fishing and hunting (elk, deer, antelope, goose, dove, and turkey), and trap shooting. Eugene loved camping with his family especially in Medicine Bow, WY at his nephew's house, Hal Embree, with his son Mike. Eugene liked taking care of his yard and tinkering in his garage.Eugene is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Leon Brooks and Carl Rightsell, two sisters, Alta May Saunders and Mary Embree and one grandson, Jeff O'Dell.He is survived by his wife, Mary Alice, one son, Mike Perry, four daughters, Vickie Johnson, Cindy Rightsell, Kelly Haffner and Janet Vandello, thirteen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren.Memorial service 1:30 PM Saturday January 2, 2016 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Cremation entrusted to Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. Military honors by the United States Navy and American Legion Post 32.
