

Passed peacefully in his sleep from natural causes in his home on November 26th 2025 with his family present. He was 84 years old.
Gary was born May 5, 1941 in Enid Oklahoma to Alvin and Frances Sheffer.
The family moved to Parson Kansas in 1956, where he attended Labette County High School and was a member of the FFA, graduating in 1959. He entered the Army in 1962 and served as a Military Policeman and later served in the Army National Guard for an additional 5 1/2 years. Gary married Stella Kay, May 12th 1963 and was blessed with a baby boy on September 9th, 1966; Troy Lee Sheffer. Gary and Stella Kay moved to Longmont Colorado in 1973. Gary worked with his brother, Terry doing construction for 9 years. He transitioned to operating heavy equipment for sewer and water lines. Then worked with his son, Troy, when he started a Welding business.
He filled his free time pursuing his passions: playing Guitar, shooting sports, Gold prospecting, ATV riding, and raising pet emus.
He is preceded in death by his Father, Mother and Wife Stella Kay Sheffer.
He is survived by his brother, Terry Sheffer; son Troy Sheffer and wife Mary; 3 grandchildren - Bronson, Sterling (Aaron), and Skyler; 6 great grandchildren - Mason, Colt, Sig, Graylee, Paislee, and Timberlee.
He will be missed by all, but continue to guide all, through his teachings.
He started his life on a farm and ended on a farm and always held the values of a hardworking, God loving, family man.
We will honor his life on Monday, December 15th, 2025 at 4:00pm at Howe Mortuary & Crematory, 439 Coffman Street, Longmont Colorado 80501. A reception will follow the service.
