Geraldine ""Jerri M. Schmitz

Geraldine “Jerri” Margaret Schmitz, 75, of Longmont, passed peacefully in her sleep on September 3, 2017. She was born December 28, 1941 in Kansas City, Missouri to Hazel (Lewis) and James R. Elliott. Jerri was a 1959 graduate of Longmont High School, followed by receiving her Master’s Degree in Business Management from CSU in Fort Collins, CO. On December 15, 1962, she married Roger Schmitz in Longmont, CO.

Jerri’s working career began with her and Roger owning Schmitz Florist. After selling the flower shop she went on to work at Longmont Florist and Bassett Carpets. She then helped Roger on the golf course at Fox Hill Country Club and later at Rifle Gap Country Club. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and enjoyed her free time arranging flowers, scrapbooking, traveling, shopping, cheering for the Broncos and spending valuable family time whenever possible. She cherished the times she could spend with her grandchildren, watching them at numerous sporting events. She also loved traveling with Roger in their motorhome.

Jerri is survived by her husband Roger Schmitz of Longmont, her son Steve Schmitz and his wife Catheryne and their children Danielle and Hunter, of Edmond, OK and her daughter Kelli Larson and her husband Alan and their children Derrick, Dylan and Devon of Longmont, CO. She is further survived by her cousin Ruth Ann Lewis and her special friend Marilynn Hajek.

Cremation has been entrusted to Howe Mortuary and Cremation Services.

An open house luncheon to celebrate Jerri’s life will be held on Saturday, September 9, from 12:00 noon until 3:00 pm at the Howe Mortuary in Longmont.
