

Gertrude Frances Campbell of Longmont, Colorado, died Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at LifeCare Center of Longmont. She was 89 years old.Gertrude was born June 4, 1916 in Elmo, Kansas to James Leo and Anne Julia (Pintka) Healy. After graduating from Council Grove High School, she worked at Kansas State University as a cook in the girls? dormitories. She later continued her career as a cook with Community Hospital in Rialto, California.On May 25, 1938 she married Louie Leroy ""Jack"" Campbell in Council Grove, Kansas. The couple lived in Rialto, California for 22 years before moving to Longmont in 1985.Mrs. Campbell was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Longmont and had been active with the Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards, crocheting, making crafts and visiting with her sewing circle friends.Survivors include her son, Thomas L. Campbell and his wife, Darlene, of Nixa, Missouri; two daughters, Anna Campbell of Tehachapi, California, and Carol Schack and her husband, Dan of Longmont; a sister, Frances Janke of Hays, Kansas; five grandchildren, Ehrich Bean, Geoff Bean, Chris Schack, Angie Ekema, and Tony Campbell; and three great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Bean, and Adam and Brooke Ekema.She was preceded in death by her parents, and by her husband on May 16, 2000.Visitation will be held from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 30, 2006 with a Vigil Service to follow at 7:00 p.m. at Howe Mortuary, Longmont. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 1st, with The Reverend Brian Morrow as Celebrant.
