

Goldie Thelma Elizabeth Schnegelberger was called to her eternal home on Thursday December 17 at Applewood Living Center in Longmont. She was born on July 1, 1918 to John and Wilhelmina (Neeman) Henke. The Lord blessed her with more than 97 years.She was raised on a farm south of Ft. Morgan and a graduate of Ft Morgan schools. On November 16, 1938 she married John Schnegelberger. In their early years they worked various places in northeastern Colorado. By 1949 they settled into the Ft. Morgan area and bought a house in 1952 where Goldie remained until 2013, when she moved to Village Place Apartments in Longmont. She moved into Applewood Living Center in 2014. She loved working whether it was the local dairy store, the glove factory, running her own drive-in, baking or cooking at several restaurants, and cleaning the surgery rooms at the hospital. She retired at age 70 and then became a local care giver for numerous elderly and children of working families. She could often be seen riding her three wheel bike around town or walking to downtown or various events. She walked almost every day right up until she moved to Longmont in February of 2013. She sang in a community choir, was active in the senior center, loved to play cards and games. She taught her children and grandchildren how to make cinnamon rolls, cabbage burgers and sweet breads.She was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She demonstrated to family and friends the importance of one's relationship to their Lord. She witnessed it through her worship life and her service to the church and to the people she contacted every day.She was preceded in death by parents, her husband John, four infants, one son Norman, four sisters, Leona Ostwald, Eval Whittier, Matilda Criley, and Hazel Smith, two brothers, Clarence Henke, and Robert Henke, and a granddaughter Amanda.Goldie is survived by four children, Margot Abel of Llano, Texas, Donna (Ray) Evans of Colcord, Oklahoma, Rev. Kent (Christine) Schnegelberger of Johnstown, Colorado, and Mark (Audrey) Schnegelberger of Ogallala, Nebraska. Fourteen grandchildren Lavina (Briley) Mitchell of Llano, Texas, Lorraine McAdams Chambliss of Loga Vista, Texas, Paul (Dena Lee) Schnegelberger of Baltimore, Maryland, Peter Schnegelberger of St. Charles, Missouri, J l (Kristin) Schnegelberger of Quincy, Washington, , Alan (Kristi) Evans of Colcord, Oklahoma, Lisa (Gary) Chamberlain of Colcord, Oklahoma, Teresa (Michael) Clapper of Del Rio, Texas, John (Lucinda) Schnegelberger of Ft. Morgan, Kristin (Christopher) Miller of Longmont, Colorado, Aaron (Rachel) Schnegelberger of Dallas, Texas, Annette (Mike) Schnegelberger of Loveland, Colorado, Joshua Schnegelberger and Scott Schnegelberger of Ogallala, Nebraska. One sister Doris Neb of Wiggins, Colorado. She was blessed with forty five great and great great grandchildren.A viewing with family present will be at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel in Longmont on Monday December 21 from 4-6 p.m. Funeral service will be Tuesday December 22 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ft. Morgan. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Ft. Morgan. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
