She was the daughter of Thomas Hladish and Mary Kuchera, both of whom preceded her in death.
Grace was raised on a dairy farm in Wisconsin, and she loved spending time with her barn cats. She attended Phillips High School in Wisconsin, where she was active in 4-H Club and enjoyed playing the guitar.
In her younger years, Grace worked in secretarial and office positions before dedicating herself fully to being a homemaker and raising her children. She moved to the Boulder, Colorado area in 1966, where she built a full and meaningful life centered around faith, family, and community.
Grace was married to Raymond Dovala from May 31, 1958, until his passing January 8, 1969. She later married Donald Alcorn on July 3, 1976; they shared many happy years together until his passing on November 4, 2013.
She was a devoted member of Valley Community Church and was very strong in her faith. Grace was known as an extremely positive person — a bright light in any room she entered. She loved music and continued to play the guitar, adored dancing, and even won several dance contests with her husband Donald. A true social butterfly, she treasured time spent with friends and family, often enjoying what she called a “good old fashioned visit.”
Grace loved dogs, especially her cherished dog Lola, who survives her. She also enjoyed making greeting cards, traveling, camping, and caring for her wild birds.
She is survived by her two sons and one daughter, of Colorado; her grandchildren, Lucas and Hollie of Colorado; and her loving dog, Lola. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; her Hladish brothers Carl, Edward, Joseph, Clarence, and her sisters Marie, Francis, and Bessie.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Longmont Humane Society (longmonthumane.org) in memory of Grace Alcorn. A private funeral service has been held.
