Grey Aden Turner

Grey Aden Turner of Longmont, CO died January 31, 2007 at the Hospice Care Center in Louisville, Colorado. He was 61.Grey was born on January 31, 1946 in Winnsboro, Louisiana to William Thomas and Annie Irene (Aden) Turner. He grew up in north Louisiana and graduated from Ruston, Louisiana High School. He later attended Louisiana Tech University where he received is BA in Sociology, and later earned a Master?s degree in Education.Grey entered the United States Army in 1969 and served until 1970 when he entered officer training school and graduated as a First Lieutenant in 1971. He then served in Hawaii and Hammond, Louisiana and was discharged from the service as a Captain in 1977.Mr. Turner married Beverly Burns in Jonesboro, Louisiana, and they had one son, Chad Harrison The couple later divorced.Grey was a co-owner and operator of Stark?s Family Restaurants in Mississippi. Later he was a manager for several retail stores including Lowe?s, Ace Hardware, and other restaurants. He came to Longmont to live with his niece in 2004. Mr. Turner enjoyed crossword puzzles and always trying to create the perfect house plan. He could find something humorous in any situation and will be remembered for his sharp wit.Grey volunteered at the Humane Society and Longmont Free University and he enjoyed learning the history of Longmont.Mr. Turner was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, William Turner, Jr., and a sister, Sue Burdine. He is survived by his son, Chad Harrison and his wife Andrea of Springfield, Missouri and their daughters Channing and Hollis, by an aunt, Eloise Howard of Lake Providence, Louisiana and several nieces and nephews.Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February 10 at 10:30 a.m. at Howe Mortuary with Pastor Jeff Giles officiating. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Howe Mortuary of Longmont.Memorials may be given to Longmont Humane Society or Longmont Free University and sent to Howe Mortuary, 439 Coffman Street, Longmont, Colorado 80501.
