Harold Lee Headrick was born in Cheraw, Colorado on July 18, 1928. He grew up on the farm with his 8 brothers and sisters. He learned to work hard and he was always a farmer at heart. He loved high school athletics and the competition that came with them. He earned both a bachelor's and master's degree from the University of Northern Colorado. Harold taught industrial arts at Arvada High School, Jefferson High School, and Arvada West for 25 years. In the summers and on many weekends he installed carpet. After he retired, he went to locksmith college. He moved to Conifer where he enjoyed the mountain weather and open space. He always had a big garden and enjoyed working on and driving old tractors. Harold was a talented woodworker. He made furniture, picture frames, vases and could remodel, refinish or repair most anything. He added an addition onto one house and then built his family a house in the 1970's.He was a member of Friendship Force for many years. With this group of people he traveled all over the world. Some of his travels were to Costa Rica, Australia, Japan, Thailand, Taiwan, Germany, Colombia, England, and Italy. He enjoyed the adventure of traveling, meeting new people, and learning about different cultures. Harold has three children; Lynn (Kip), Craig (Janelle), Kurt (Donna) and his adopted daughter, Keep. He has six grandchildren of whom he was very proud: Hilary, Grant, Connor, Logan, Kyra, and Brandon. Family was very important to him and he enjoyed the times we spent together. He is also survived by his siblings Melvin, Clifford, Lloyd, Don, Marge, Rosetta, and Joyce. His oldest sister Dorothy preceded him in death in March of 2014. The Headrick clan has enjoyed family reunions every two or three years for decades. At our last gathering in June 2013, Harold was instrumental in a tribute to Dorothy. It is fitting that they are now together again.Harold passed away on April 15, 2014. He was a man dedicated to hard work, high values, and being a productive member of society. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends, and his values and teachings will be carried on through all of us.A celebration of life and burial of ashes will take place at East Holbrook Mennonite Church in Cheraw, CO on May 17th at 11:00 am.
