

Helen Roslyn Ratliff, of Dacono, Colorado, died at her home on November 24, 2007. She was 87 years old.Helen was born December 4, 1919 in St. Louis, Missouri, to John Allen Nies and Meta Matthiesen Nies. In 1939, she married Carl F. Tinius. The couple made their home in the St. Louis area and later divorced. She married William E. Ratliff on May 14, 1960 in St. Louis. The Ratliffs moved to Colorado in approximately 1974. Mr. Ratliff died in 1981.Mrs. Ratliff loved the outdoors, whether camping, hunting, fishing, or enjoying wildflowers. She cherished family gatherings, and enjoyed her grandchildren immensely.She is survived by her son, Vaughn Tinius and his wife, Linda, of Dacono; two daughters, Susan James of Ironton, Missouri, and Margaret Walker of St. Charles, Missouri; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. She is further survived by her stepchildren, William H. Ratliff, Edward Ratliff, and Vivian Sue Joy.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Ratliff; a son, Martin; and four sisters, Hilda Reiman, Cecilia Beaver, Lillian Kuntz, and Nancy Clifton; and a brother, Harvey Nies.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 3, 2007 at Howe Mortuary and Cremation Services, Longmont.
