

Irene Lang Adler of Longmont, CO passed away February 8, 2015 after a 12 month battle with cancer. She was 68.Irene Ann Lang Adler was born on July 15, 1946, in Longmont, Colorado, to William L. and Mary Ella (Cohagan) Lang. She attended schools in Longmont and was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Irene graduated from Longmont High School in 1964, as a member of the last class to graduate from the old Main Street high school.She was married to Kenneth Adler on June 27, 1964, in Longmont, Colorado. They were divorced in 1984. Their son, Michael, was born in 1970 and was always the sunshine of Irene's life.Irene enjoyed a long and fulfilling 50-year career in Information Technology, working for several years as a Software Developer at the First National Bank of Denver and later as a mainframe Systems Programmer for Oppenheimer Mutual Funds and Security Pacific Information Services. Later, during her 22 years with StorageTek (later Sun Microsystems and Oracle), Irene worked as a Systems Programmer and Systems Engineer. Her career with StorageTek allowed Irene to travel to several customers sites throughout Europe, to England, Germany, France, Belgium and Spain, also to Brazil, Mexico, Hong Kong and to numerous customers throughout the United States. Irene also presented at several IBM SHARE international technical conferences.Irene was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, William J. Lang, J. Robert (Bob) Lang and Lawrence L. Lang, niece Barbara Jean Lang and sister-in-law Joan Lang.Irene is survived by her son Michael Sean Adler and his wife Katrina of Frederick, Colorado, three grandchildren Hannah, Ryan and Benjamin Adler, also of Frederick, two sisters-in-law Marcia Lang of Arvada, Colorado and Suzanne Lang of Longmont, Colorado, nieces Joyce Phillips (Wynn) and Ellen Chizer (Ensley) of Lafayette, Louisiana, Ann Thomas (Tim) of Longmont, Colorado and Karen Lang of Cheyenne, Wyoming, nephews Tim Lang of Ft. Collins, Colorado and Larry C. Lang (Kate) of Denver, Colorado, numerous cousins and grand nieces and nephews along with her longtime beloved companion Allan L. Simon and his children Michael Simon (Amy), Edward Simon (Sherry), and Diane Peil (Jeff) and Allan's grandchildren Emma Simon, Samantha and Josh Simon, and Gary and Cassidy Peil.Visitation will be held at 5-8pm, Friday, February 13, 2015 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel with vigil service at 7pm. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Longmont, Colorado at 10:00 am, Saturday, February 14, 2015.
