

Jack D. Benton of Lyons, died April 16, 2006 surrounded by his friends in Berthoud. He was 51.Jack was born on April 24, 1954 in Dodge City, Kansas to Myron M. Benton and Iris Scott Benton. He moved to Longmont with his family in 1962.Jack attended schools in Longmont through Longmont High School.He married Sherri Janecek on October 25, 1980 in Omaha, Nebraska. They were later divorced.An accomplished carpenter, Jack has been in the construction field his entire life. He took great pride in his work and was known as a true craftsman in his trade. He began in the Aspen area following high school, before returning to Longmont. He has been a superintendent for Pilkington-Herman Construction for the past 12 years.His enjoyed the outdoors and quiet camping & fishing trips, especially to Wyoming with his children and friends. Preceding him in death was his mother.Surviving are his father of Longmont, a son Chase Benton and a daughter Kylie Benton both of Omaha, Nebraska, a brother Richard Benton of Dothan, Alabama and a sister Susan J. Oberlin and her husband Rick of Grand Junction.Services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, April 21, 2006 at the Howe Mortuary Chapel, with Chaplain Dale Piers of Larimer County Hospice officiating. A cremation has been entrusted to the Howe Mortuary and Crematory.A gathering will be held immediately following services at Oskar Blues, 303 Main St., Lyons, CO.Contributions may be made to the Hospice of Larimer County, 7604 Colland Dr., Ft.
