

James “Jim” Eugene Bourn, age 67 of Thornton, Colorado died January 24, 2013 at the Lutheran Medical Center in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. Mr. Bourn was born August 4, 1945 in Cedar Rapids, Nebraska to Gordon and Blanche (Babbitt) Bourn. Jim had four siblings, Gordon Ray, Sandra Fittje, Daniel Bourn and Merilee “Sue” Oakley. Sue is the last surviving sibling.
Jim was a lieutenant for the Longmont and Thornton Fire Departments for over 20 years of service from 1969-1989. He graduated from Fullerton, Nebraska High School in 1963, attended Kearney State College in Kearney, Nebraska and Red Rocks Community College studying fire science.
Jim was a wonderful husband, dad and grandpa and was an all-around good person. If he was your friend, he was your true friend. He was not a social butterfly, but rather avoided crowds, choosing to spend his time with close friends and loved ones. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. He was always the one to take care of the grandchildren whenever needed and always provided love and support.
Jim is survived by his high school sweetheart and best friend, Janene “Tubby”, one son Darren “Butch” (Joell) of Frederick, Colorado, one daughter Jill “Willy” (Pete) Jennings of Brighton, Colorado, grandchildren Fisher “Fisner” James Bourn, Macy “Macaronie” McKenna Bourn and “Little Hayden” Kayanne Jennings.
There will be a celebration of Jim’s life for family and friends Saturday, February 2, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Twin Peaks Golf Clubhouse, 1200 Cornell Drive in Longmont, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, friends who wish may make memorial contributions to Children’s Hospital of Colorado in Jim’s name in care of Howe Mortuary, 439 Coffman Street in Longmont, Colorado 80501.
