
James “O.J.” Grabowski, passed away on February 3, 2025 in Longmont, Colorado. James was born July 11, 1947, in Oswald, West Virginia. James grew up in rural Shady Springs, West Virginia, riding horses and putting food on the table. James attended Marshall University for a year before joining the Airforce. James was stationed all over Europe, United States and Thailand.
James married Laurene Joos, on October 26, 1974, in Wimbledon, North Dakota, where his wife grew up. Later they moved to Longmont, Colorado in 1980, from Westford, Massachusetts. James built and maintained mainframes for Storage Tech; he was also a Safeway Checker. James grew up a Catholic, after getting married he became a Methodist.
James was a member of The Boy Scouts Troop 98 and the 10 Eagle Scouts. He was an avid re-loader: gun enthusiast, computer guru (building and repair), champion archer. Cats, dogs and horses have always been part of our family.
James is survived by his wife Laurene Joos Grabowski, his sons: David (Laura), Jeremy Klanchar; his daughter; Kaylee Williams (Ricky), his grandchildren Cameron, Dakota and Aiure.
His sister-in-law Kathy (Dallas) Strand, brother-in-law Andy L. Joos. James survived Hodgkin's Lymphoma from 2003-2005.
James is preceded in death by a brother Joe, two sisters; Frankie and Pattie.
There will be a Celebration of Life Service for James on Saturday March 8, 2025 at 11am at Rinn United Methodist Church: 3783 Bella Rose Pkwy Frederick, CO 80504
