I feel very lucky to have gotten to know Jim over the past few years. His passion for passing along history, making connections and sharing knowledge. What a great tribute today for such a kind a genuine person.

Jim was my manager at IBM for over 5-years, from around 1980 to 1986, I worked for Jim longer than any other manager I had at IBM.  The time working for him were one of my fondest memories of my entire IBM career.  I learned a lot from Jim and he helped my career tremendously.

The world was a better place with Jim, and he will be sorely missed.  He was my dad's last boss at IBM, and our family has a lot of fond memories.  My favorite was his work, after he retired, with the military and MIAs.  He told me some wonderful stories, and I had the honor of writing one for the Daily Camera.  Thank you, Jim.  Semper Fi.

Please accept our condolences in the loss of Jim. Like Sue and Val, we saw him regularly at LAC, and he always had a kind word aand often a story, and was genuinely interested in checking in with people.  Everyone who knew him will miss him. May you take comfort in your memories.

I had the pleasure of speaking with Jim several times over the last four years at our CPA firm. I was honored that he shared many stories about his military tours with me, and the last time I saw him he helped me with paperwork to find out more about my (deceased) Dad's Marine service in the 1950s. Jim was a charming, honorable man and I will miss seeing and talking with him.

Jim was a vital part of the morning group at Longmont Athletic Club.  We are shocked and saddened at his passing.  We so enjoyed his companionship and stories while we worked out together at LAC. Jim always had a smile and question of ""how's the Queen's own"" for my husband, who is English.  He spoke proudly of you both often.  Our deepest condolences on your father's passing. To the Pilkington Family,
I think I can speak for all of us that work out at the athletic club in the early mornings...we are really missing Jim!  He was a regular and we enjoyed his presence as well as his many stories!  My son Kirk was Jim's recent lawn and yard helper, and Kirk also enjoyed getting to know Jim.
I know Jim so enjoyed when both of you, his kids, and partners came up for lunches, gun shows, etc.

We will miss Jim every 10 November and every Veterans' Day parade.  I thought of him also when I drove by Rogers Grove (SOS breakfasts site).

To the Pilkington Family: I travel several times to Peleliu with Jim. He was very knowledgeable and personable. We took a boat to Anguar on day which was very fascinating. His personality and knowledge will be missed. Remember the good times. Take care Lucille Katavich-Wegner

We are so sorry to hear of his passing - our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time.  
Jim was a great Marine and Historian and loved sharing his knowledge of the Pacific battlefields. I am glad that I was able to travel with him several times to Peleliu and see him sharing his knowledge with other.  He also cared deeply for the people of those island and in the times he went to Peleliu I know that he brought books to the local school.  
He will be truly missed.
