Jane Kanemoto passed away peacefully at the age of 89. She will be remembered as a remarkable woman who always made everyone feel so special in her loving, nurturing way.Jane was born on June 21, 1927, to Kunihei and Sono Miyasaki in Lafayette, CO. One of seven children, Jane shared a special bond with her twin brother, John, and was elated when she had twins herself. Growing up on the family farm in Lafayette, Jane moved to Longmont in 1948 when she married George Kanemoto. Her sister Chiyo had married George's brother Jim, and the four formed a lifelong family partnership. Together they grew vegetables for shipping and to sell in their Freshway Market on south Main Street. In 1960, Kane Manufacturing & Supply Company was formed, and the partnership continued to evolve with the development of their land in south Longmont. Over the years she was a 4-H leader, tutored juvenile delinquents, and helped with the reading program at Central School. She also served as President of the Soroptimist Club and volunteered for many organizations including The Longmont United Hospital Auxiliary, the Patient Advocacy Team and Mended Hearts. She was a devout member of the Longmont Buddhist Temple, teaching Sunday School in early years, and more recently serving on the Welcoming Committee. Her many nieces and nephews remember her as their second Mom, always available to listen and counsel and help them through difficult times. Her family remembers her as the most selfless and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, always giving generously, putting others before herself, and welcoming you with the most beautiful smile that always made you feel so special. Jane instilled the importance of family togetherness and would host family vacations and reunions every year. She also loved her Colorado Rockies and was so excited when her family arranged visits with Todd Helton and Dinger. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband George and six siblings.
