

Janean K. Jan HamannFebruary 15, 1941 ~ March 24, 2014Janean K. Jan Hamann of Fort Collins, Colorado, passed away March 24, 2014 at The Atria in Longmont, Colorado. She was 73. Jan was born February 15, 1941 in Cozad, Nebraska to Clem Ormsby and Geraldine Mae Geri (Herbert) Wimberley. Mrs. Hamann graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1959, then from the University of Nebraska “ Lincoln in 1963 with a degree in Food Science and Human Nutrition. Jan did her Dietetic Internship at Henry Ford Hospital in 1964.On May 1, 1966 she married Dale Hamann in Scottsbluff. Jan moved to Fort Collins in 1982.Mrs. Hamann was Director of Food Services, Housekeeping, Laundry and Grounds at Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins from 1982 to 1997. During that time she completed her Master of Science - Management degree from Regis University in 1995.She was an avid supporter of CSU Ram Volleyball and her granddaughters, who also play volleyball.As an active member of Fort Collins First United Methodist Church, she was involved in the Prayer Shawl Ministry, Stephen Ministry and other church activities. Jan went on two Mission trips to Guatemala and one trip to Sager Brown in New Orleans and the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. Jan enjoyed photography and was the photographer for the Habitat for Humanity home which the FCFUMC sponsored and built in 2010.Jan was an active member of Chapter GG, P.E.O. in Fort Collins. She also actively participated in Harvest Master and Subassociation Homeowner Associations for a total of 15 years. She served on the Fort Collins Senior Center Council for 2 years, and in 2013 entertained a student from Costa Rica for two weeks helping him to learn English. Mrs. Hamann was preceded in death by her parents and husband.Jan is survived by daughter, Renee Staiano, son-in-law Mickey Staiano and granddaughters Laura and Michelle Staiano all of Longmont, CO. Sisters Judy Coffey of Longmont, CO. and Marnee Pennington and husband Ed of Iowa City, IA. Five nieces, two nephews, three aunts, numerous cousins and a large collection of wonderful friends.Memorial service will be held 2:00 P.M., Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Fort Collins First United Methodist Church, 1005 Stover St., Fort Collins, CO.
