A beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, Jan lived a full life. She was born on April 30, 1933, in New York City to Franklin and Ethel Watson. The family moved frequently as Jan’s father served as an army captain and lieutenant colonel during World War II. After the war, they settled in Hastings, Nebraska, where Jan met the love of her life, Ronald H. Hart. The two married in 1950 and had four daughters. Ron’s career eventually brought them to Boulder, Colorado.
Jan was active in the Boulder community. She and Ron belonged to the local Jaycees, and Jan volunteered and served on the auxiliary board for Boulder Community Hospital. Later, she was hired as the hospital’s volunteer director where she managed more than 500 volunteers of all ages. She also served as president for the Colorado Directors of Volunteer Services. In retirement, Jan belonged to PEO serving in various leadership positions. She was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing games with her friends, like bridge and mahjong, as well as spending time with family and attending Faith Community Lutheran Church in Longmont.
Jan is preceded in death by her husband Ron, her parents, and two brothers, Dwight Abbott and Frank Watson Jr. She leaves behind her daughters who all reside in Colorado, Cheryl Cornell (Ray), Christine Mueller, Shelley Willemsen (Tim), and Pam Butler (Jeff), in addition to eight grandchildren, including Kit Franz (Annika), Holly Warren (Bryce), Bailey Smith McCallister (Aaron), Matthew Willemsen (Christy), Mallory Swords (Jake), Chelsea Frye (Kellen), Ian Butler, and Frances Pallesen (Alex), as well as nine great grandchildren.
