

Janette Carson, 90, passed away July 12, 2018 at Longmont United Hospital.She was born as one of twin daughters to Carl and Maude Gragson in Pilger, Nebraska on January 2, 1928. At an early age, she moved with her family to Omaha, Nebraska where she graduated from North High School. She attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha, where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. While at the University, she was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority and the private secretary to Berthe C. Koch, PhD., Chairman of the Department of Fine Arts.On August 14, 1949, in Omaha, she was married to John Douglas Carson. They lived in Ph nix, Chicago, and Wichita Falls, Texas, before moving to Longmont in 1967. From the marriage were born Nancy Janette Ferraro, Thomas Scott Carson, Barbara Lynn Dow, and James Douglas Carson.Janette began a career in the legal field in 1949 and was employed with Frost, Peasinger & Meyers in Omaha, with Snell & Wilmer in Ph nix, and for 32 years with Flanders, Wood & Sonnesyn in Longmont as a legal assistant.She loved gardening and sharing her flowers with friends. As a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ, she was a member of the choir for 25 years, was a member of the Board of Trustees, Chairman of the Christmas Home Tour, and a member of Women's Fellowship.Her twin sister, Janice, pre-deceased her in 1995, as well as a brother in 1957 and a sister in 1922. Her parents are also deceased, and her former husband died in 1991. Survivors include her children and their spouses, Nancy and John Ferraro of Broomfield, Colorado; Thomas and Visda Carson of Boulder, Colorado; Barbara and David Dow of Houston, Texas; and James and Jane Carson of Rancho Cordova, California. Her grandchildren are Anthony, Lisa, and Katherine Ferraro, Sarah Dow-Jodoin and Scott Dow, Adam and Samantha Carson, and Mariam and Andrew Carson. Her great-grandchildren are Lilly and Hadrian Malloy (Lisa), Tristan Dow-Jodoin (Sarah), and Stevie Carson (Adam).A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, July 23, 2018 at United Church of Christ of Longmont, 1500 9th Avenue, 10:00 AM. Cremation entrusted to Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Vrain Valley Education Foundation.
