With heavy hearts we announce that Jay R. Patak, age 59, passed away peacefully at home in Longmont, CO on February 2nd, 2026. He is survived by his two children Grant and McKenna, his granddaughter Cheyenne, his parents Ray and Judy Patak, his 3 sisters Susan, Sharon, and Karen, and his best friend Cindy Price along with a host of beloved nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
He was born in Dallas, Texas and went on to graduate from the University of Texas in Dallas where he received his degree in accounting with a minor in computer science. He was also a very proud Sigma Chi while attending Texas A&M Commerce.
For most of his career, he traveled weekly as a software consultant and always loved being on the move. He would happily talk your ear off about the frequent flier status he earned and the airplanes he still hoped to fly on one day. At home, he was always cooking or grilling up the most delicious meals, tending to his garden with a green thumb like no other, and never hesitating to lend a helping hand to his neighbors.
He had a bright smile, the cheekiest sense of humor, and so much love in his heart.
A remembrance walk will be held in Longmont, CO at McIntosh Lake, a favorite location of his, on Sunday February 8th, 2026 at 12:30pm. Wear comfortable shoes and we’ll take a walk around the lake for Jay. We will meet at the lake along Lakeshore drive across the street from Cove Ct.
A memorial service will be held in Dallas, TX on February 21st, 2026 at Noon at Calvary Hill Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his remembrance to Harmony Recovery Center in Estes Park: https://www.harmonyrecovery.org/donate/harmony-collective/
