Jo Jo's journey was one filled with love, passion, and unwavering dedication to making the world a better - and more fashionable - place.
She was born on April 20, 1933 in Milwaukee, WI to John and Evelyn (Connors) Zancanaro. She graduated from Messmer High School in Milwaukee in 1951.
She married the love of her life, Thomas Richard “TR” Sheforgen, in 1969, embarking on countless adventures together, exploring over 40 countries and creating cherished memories that would last a lifetime. Even after TR's passing in 2016, Jo Jo continued to live life to the fullest, spreading joy wherever she went.
A true advocate for social justice and equality, Jo Jo fearlessly stood up for what she believed in. From her involvement in anti-war protests during the Vietnam War to her tireless efforts in promoting educational opportunities for all children while serving on numerous state legislative committees, successfully working to promote equal access for children in the special education at a time when such programs simply did not exist, she was a beacon of hope and inspiration to many. Her commitment to serving others extended to her work at Madison HospiceCare, where she dedicated over two decades to providing comfort and care to those in need.
Jo Jo's passions were as diverse as they were deep-rooted. Whether she was tending to the gardens at the Wisconsin Governor’s Mansion, exploring the world through travel, or dazzling everyone with her impeccable sense of style, she did everything with grace and flair. Her love for fashion was unparalleled, and she was truly a trendsetter in every sense of the word.
In her later years, Jo Jo found joy in volunteering at local thrift stores, as well as working at a local consignment store where she continued to hone her fashion style and touch the lives of those around her with her kindness and generosity. Her impact on the community was profound, leaving a legacy of love and compassion that will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Jo Jo was preceded in death by her husband TR; her son Timothy Diamond; her parents and seven siblings.
She is survived by her children Donald Diamond, Stephen (Thea) Diamond, Thomas Diamond, Jonathan Diamond, Kristin (Brook Watts) Diamond, Peter (Cathy) Diamond and James Diamond; her grandchildren Jordan Overby, Brady Diamond, Michael Diamond, Megan Diamond, Madeline Pawlak and Nathan Pawlak; and her brothers David and James Zancanaro.
