John Robert Shupe

John Robert Bob Shupe died February 22, 2011 at Elms Haven Care Center in Thornton, he was 81. He was born December 25, 1929 in Longmont to Frank and Elsie (Barnes) Shupe. He attended Longmont schools, graduating from Longmont High School in 1947.Bob was a life resident of Colorado living in Longmont, Boulder and Broomfield.He married Lorraine Johnson on Dec. 31, 1950. To this union three children were born, Gary, Peggy and Stanley. On May 14, 1982 in Golden, CO Bob married Dorothy Myers.From 1950 to 1967 he operated a dairy farm near Longmont. Following its sale he spent many years as a bus dispatcher for Boulder Valley Schools and later dispatching trucks for K and B Transportation. Never one to not keep busy, after retiring he operated a lawn maintenance business, Custom Yard Care in Broomfield.Bob was a member of the Colorado Civil Air Patrol from 1948 to the present. He enjoyed gardening.He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Don Shupe.Bob is survived by his wife Dorothy Myers of Broomfield, seven children Peggy, Polly, and Richard of Colorado, Gary of Tennessee, Stanley of Kansas, Martha of Hawaii and Luci of Alabama, one brother Arthur Shupe of Yuma, Arizona, fourteen grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.Visitation will be from 2:00 to 3:00pm Sat. Feb. 26, 2011 at the Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, the family will be present. A funeral service will begin at 3:00pm Sat. at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Interment at Foothills Gardens of Memory.
