

John “Denny” Tipton, 81, of Longmont, died August 25, 2017 at his home. He was born November 4, 1935 in Matheson, CO the son of Dorothy and John Tipton. John graduated from Alameda High School, class of 1953.
John enlisted in the United States Navy Reserve in 1956, serving at the US Naval Air Station, being honorably discharged in 1957.
John married Martha Bell on June 23, 1956. They moved to Longmont in March of 1962. He worked for the Federal Aviation Administration until his retirement. John was a past president of the Jaycees and a member of both the Longmont Lions Club and the Longmont Elks Lodge. He was an active member of St. John’s Catholic Church as a Eucharistic Minister, member of the Stephen’s ministry and a volunteer of the food bank. He also served as a volunteer for the CVP with the Longmont Police Department.
Preceding John in death are his parents.
He is survived by his wife Martha; four sons Randy (Sandy), John, III (Mary Ellen), Jason and Nelson (Heidi). He is further survived by six grandchildren: Blake, Jeremy, John, IV, Zackery, Brianne and Erika and his sisters Joyce (late Jim) Bagwell, Janet (Ted) Younger and Joan (Lee) McNabb and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 30 at the Howe Mortuary, Longmont, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm followed by Rosary Prayers at 7:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will follow on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Longmont. Burial will follow at Foothills Gardens of Memory.
