Jose Olivas Ruelas

Surrounded by family, Jose Olivas Ruelas passed away at 58 years old, early morning on Tuesday 23 of August 2022 at UCHealth Longs Peak Hospital. Leaving behind his wife (Elva Martinez de Olivas) and two children (Elva Josefina and Jose Salvador Olivas Martinez), his parents, 3 brothers, 4 sisters and their families.

Born on May 7, 1964, in La Mesa Del Huracán Chihuahua Mexico to Francisco Olivas Quezada and Rita Ruelas Varela. He was the fourth child of ten children, and second eldest brother. As a young boy they moved to Juarez Chihuaha where he lived his childhood and young adult life.

Raised catholic, he attended Sacred Heart of Jesus for many years along with his family, and a part of the hispanic community.

At a very young age he was dealt with a hard card and he started working to help support his family.

He was a hard worker, always ready to put in the effort and time to do things right, a perfectionist in every little detail known to man. Of course, he also had times when he was impatient, made up a solution or a cheat and went ‘good enough’ and walked away. He started working at the mines for many years, where his love of gems, rocks and minerals flourished. He was able to tell what type of stone he was looking at and if it was real or fake at a glance.

His love of stones was only surpassed by his love of golf. He was an avid player who enjoyed going out to play the field or just hit golf balls for practice. He loved playing, alone or with a group, if the weather was good during the weekends he was on a course.

Rodeado por familia, José Olivas Ruelas falleció a los 58 años de edad, la mañana del Martes 23, de Agosto del 2022, en UCHealth Longs Peak Hospital. Deja atrás a su esposa (Elva Martínez de Olivas) y sus dos hijos (Elva Josefina y José Salvador Olivas Martínez), sus padres, 3 hermanos, 4 hermanas y sus familias.

Nació el 7 de Mayo del año 1964, en La Mesa Del Huracan, Chihuahua México, de sus padres Francisco Olivas Quezada y Rita Ruelas Varela. Era el cuarto de diez hijos y el segundo mayor de los hermanos. De pequeño, se mudaron a Ciudad Juárez Chihuahua, donde vivió su niñez y su vida de joven adulto.

José creció en la fe católica, participó en la iglesia del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús, junto con su familia y la comunidad hispana.

A una edad muy temprana le tocó una dura carta y comenzó a trabajar para ayudar a mantener a su familia. José era muy trabajador, siempre dispuesto a poner el tiempo para hacer las cosas bien, un perfeccionista en cada pequeño detalle conocido. Por supuesto, también tenía momentos en los que era impaciente, inventaba una solución y se decía “suficientemente bien” y se alejaba. Comenzó a trabajar en las minas durante su juventud por muchos años, donde floreció su amor por las gemas, las rocas y los minerales. Con un simple vistazo podía decir que tipo de piedra estaba mirando y si era real o falsa.

Su amor por las piedras preciosas solo fue superada por su amor por el golf. Era un jugador ávido que disfrutaba jugar un juego de golf o simplemente practicar como pegarle a la pelota en el campo. Le encantaba jugar, solo o con un grupo de personas, siempre que el clima era bueno, lo encontraban en un campo de golf durante los fines de semana.

A Mass of Christian burial will occur Thursday, September 1, 2022 at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 1318 Mapleton Ave., Boulder, CO 80304. A burial will occur Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery, 620 11th Avenue, Longmont, Colorado 80501.
