Joyce Nordick met her savior Jesus Christ, face-to-face, on February 18, 2025, as she passed peacefully into His presence. She was 89 years old. Joyce was born on August 11, 1935, in Wakita, OK to Orville and Areatha Fairchild. She lived on a farm there for 1 1 years after which her family moved to another farm in Limon, CO. She attended school in Limon, graduating from Limon High School in 1954.
Joyce married Larry D. Nordick on June 27, 1955, in Raton, NM. They lived in San Diego, CA where Larry was stationed while serving in the U.S. Navy. After Larry's honorable discharge from the Navy, they returned to Limon, CO. In 1963 they moved to Colorado Springs before moving to Fort Collins in 1965, where they raised their family. From 1995 to 1998 Joyce traveled around Wyoming, Texas, and Arizona with Larry while he was in the construction industry building churches, hotels, and remodeling hospitals. They returned to Fort Collins for a few years before relocating to Longmont in 2015.
Joyce worked various jobs throughout her life. She was a transcriber while in San Diego, a secretary in CO, and a bookkeeper and office manager for Larry on his construction projects. She also worked part time as a Law Librarian. However, her favorite "job" was being a mother to Doug and Jana, grandmother to Michaela, Ryan, and Molly, and eventually a great grandmother to Jeremiah, Liam, and Levi.
Joyce adored spending time with her grandchildren. She traveled to many softball, baseball, and basketball events as well as attending any activities these kids were involved in. The joy they brought to her life was immense. In 2012 she became a great grandmother to Jeremiah and Liam Sunberg, twin sons of her grandson Ryan and his wife Renee. In 2022 she welcomed her third grandson, Levi Achterhof, to the family. She was eagerly anticipating the arrival of her first great granddaughter this coming July. However, she will have to wait a bit longer, until they are reunited in heaven someday.
Joyce enjoyed singing and often sang solos at church and at weddings, but mostly she sang at home. There was such evident joy in her heart while she sang. She loved to share this gift from God with others! Joyce enjoyed reading her Bible daily, as well as WW2 related stories. She kept up with the Broncos, the Rockies, and in her later years she also followed golf.
Joyce is preceded in death by her husband, Larry Nordick, her grandson Ryan Sunberg, her parents Orville and Areatha Fairchild, her siblings Bonnie Tower, Orletta Fairchild, and Wm. Gary Fairchild.
She is survived by her children Larry Douglas "Doug" Nordick, and Jana (Kevin) Sunberg of Longmont, three grandchildren: Michaela (Michael) Achterhof, Molly Sunberg, and Renee Sunberg (wife of Ryan Sunberg), and three great grandchildren: Jeremiah and Liam Sunberg, and Levi Achterh of.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, March 2nd , at Longmont Calvary Church, at 2pm
