It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our Juan “Johnny,” Manuel Romero, who left this world on September 11, 2024, at the age of 40. Born to Mary Angel Garza on July 18, 1984, in Denver, Colorado, Johnny was a man who had a big heart, was kind, fearless, and determined. Always there when you needed him, he had a way of making you feel truly valued and offered the right words and advice, without judgement. Johnny had a unique gift for lifting everyone’s spirits and was always eager to try something new and embrace life to the fullest. Some of Johnny’s proudest moments included graduating high school a year early – the first in his family to do so – celebrating his marriage to his wife Cilbia and buying his first home at just 22 years old. His family and children always came first; he cherished spending time with them whenever he was not working. Whether it was playing video games, fishing, sledding, riding bikes, or hosting tea parties, he was all in for any activity that involved his kids.
Johnny had a passion for movies, especially gangster and zombie films. “Scarface” and “Night of the Living Dead” topped his list. He loved quoting lines from Scarface, “I always tell the truth, even when I lie.” Traveling to the beach brought him immense joy, with Cancun, Mexico, being his favorite destination. A passionate motorcycle rider for fifteen years, he enjoyed every moment he spent on the road. He loved hosting barbeques and gatherings, cherishing the company of friends and family.
Johnny leaves behind a community of family and friends who will remember him as a protector, his humble heart, his passion for teaching and sharing his knowledge, and for consistently encouraging others to better their lives. He was always down to try something new and always lived life to the fullest. He was an amazing husband, father, brother, uncle, son, cousin, and friend. His soul shone brightly, far too good for this world.
