Judy was born on November 21, 1948, in Council Grove, Kansas, to LaVerne and Fern (Furman) Weeks. She spent part of her childhood in Council Grove before her father was transferred with Beech Aircraft to their Boulder division. She would later graduate from Longmont Senior High School in 1966. On September 3, 1966, she married William (Bill) Drieth at the First Baptist Church in Longmont. In 1972, they welcomed their first child Scott, followed by Sean in 1977 and Christy in 1979. Judy and Bill divorced in 1996.
She spent most of her career as a customer service representative working for companies like IBM, Neodata and Northrop Grumman. She also worked for the school district in the computer lab at both Burlington and Mead elementary schools.
Judy was a woman of strong faith and a devoted member of the Longmont Church of the Nazarene. She cherished participating in weekly Bible studies, which were often followed by enjoyable lunches. During the pandemic or times of illness, she deeply missed attending Sunday services. Her church was her community, always standing by her in every way she needed. The relationships she built over the years were a cornerstone of her life and a source of great happiness.
She loved spending time in the mountains, tending to her garden, losing herself in a good book, and savoring a comforting cup of tea—especially her favorites, Sherpa Chai and Mad Hatter Earl Grey.
Judy is survived by her three children: Scott Drieth; Sean Drieth and his wife, Miki; and Christy Angevine and her husband, Eric Johnson, all of Longmont. She has four grandchildren, Blake, Tj, Zora and Waylon, and one great-grandchild, Ezra. Judy is further survived by her brother, Jeff Weeks, and his wife, Debbie, also of Longmont, as well as three nieces, one nephew, extended family, and close friends.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter-in-law, Rebecka Drieth.
Funeral services will be held on January 11, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Lonnie Green officiating, followed by a luncheon and time of fellowship. Both events will take place at the Longmont Church of the Nazarene, located at 2111 Mountain View Avenue in Longmont. Judy will be laid to rest with her parents at the Longmont Mountain View Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial donations can be made in memory of Judy to the Longmont Church of the Nazarene.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the Mountain View Fire Department and the ER staff at Longs Peak Hospital for the compassionate care they provided to Judy.
Cremation is entrusted to Howe Mortuary & Crematory of Longmont, Colorado.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.howemortuary.com for the Drieth family.
