On Tuesday, September 10, 2024, Karen Jameson passed away at the age of 76, after a long-term illness. Karen was a resident of Longmont, Colorado, and had lived there for many, many years. Karen was the biological mother of two children. However, many people considered Karen their surrogate mother too. She was deeply loved by her mother and father, Billy and Doris E. Jones.
Karen was born on June, 27th 1948, and raised in Ardmore, Oklahoma. She was a proud Oklahoma Boomer Sooner and college football was one of the countless things she was interested in; southern cooking, music, kindness, and family were a few that come to mind. She graduated from Ardmore High School and would soon relocate to Oklahoma City, to work in banking and criminal justice organizations. It was the kind of work she continued to excel at for the better part of two centuries.
She cared genuinely for her family and neighbors. She did this not out of obligation, but because of who she was. She was an avid talker and had more friends than is imaginable. Everyone who met her loved her. She was always the first to offer help. And she always ensured that every child who crossed her threshold was safe, healthy, and happy.
Karen is survived by her two daughters, Shana Jameson (Riley) and Robyn Jameson (James Egan), and four beautiful grandchildren, Cooper, Ivy, Adisyn, and Penelope. She is also survived by her sister, Lynda McKinstry, and her family, Jim and Serena McKinstry, Danika (Alex), Keagan, and Tessa Anderson.
Thanks to the staff at National Jewish. Their work helped Karen feel cared for and loved.
While Karen’s family grieves her loss, they are choosing to remember her in a way that honors her spirit. Her children will share plans for a Celebration of Life ceremony at a future time and date.
