

Kenneth Robert ""Bob"" Wallace of Longmont died December 15, 2008 in Longmont of congestive lung disease. He was 72.Bob was born June 16, 1936 to Kenneth E. and Mary Jane (Simmons) Wallace. He was a native of Longmont and was proud to have the distinction of being able to have pioneer plates on his pickup. His family has lived in the area for over 100 years. Prior to graduating from high school, Bob enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corps and served eight years during the Korean conflict. He was immensely proud of his service with the Marines.Bob lived and worked for a few years in Fairbanks, Alaska before moving back to Longmont. He then worked for the City of Longmont for many years as a manager of five departments before retiring. He was an avid outdoorsman as well as a professional trapper. His early years were spent in a variety of ""Tom Sawyer"" adventures. Bob was a loner and preferred the solitude of the mountains, but was a gregarious person with a wry sense of humor.His parents and one brother Charles preceded him in death. Bob is survived by his brother Harry ""Jay"" Wallace and his wife Charolette of Lyons, sister-in-law Mary Ann Wallace and numerous nephews and nieces, many friends at Cinnamon Park, and his longtime friends Le Donahue, Mike Babler and Trish Gregory.A memorial service will be held at a later date at Cinnamon Park. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 19 at the Hygiene Cemetery with military honors.
