

Kent Leslie Foutz, 89, of Longmont passed away January 25, 2018 surrounded by family at the TRU Hospice Care Center in Boulder.He was born June 30, 1928 in Ogden, Utah to Leslie and Veva (Riggs) Foutz. Kent graduated from Ogden High School in 1946. Kent was drafted into the United States Army on Nov 27, 1950. He served a tour of duty with the infantry in Korea and was honorably discharged on Aug 28, 1952.After his military service, Kent earned both a BA and MBA from the University of Utah, and a Doctorate of Business Administration from Mississippi State University.On June 13, 1953 he married Joan Sorensen in Salt Lake City, Utah. They have lived in Longmont since 1970.Kent had a lengthy career as a professor and educator. He taught at the college level at several institutions, and was the author of two published books.He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Left Hand Creek Ward, as well as a staunch Republican.Kent enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing, family get-togethers and good food.He was preceded in death by his parents, and also by his siblings Barbara Van Leer and Dell Foutz.Kent is survived by his wife Joan, children Walt Foutz, Katy Lyons, Steve Foutz, Mimi Hansen, Jane Platt and Bobbi Deere, as well as sisters LaRue Sparrow and LaRene Barclay. His descendents also include 25 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren.A viewing will be held 6-8 pm, Thursday Feb 1 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2200 11th Ave., Longmont. Military burial with full military honors will take place at 9:30 am Friday Feb 2 at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver. Memorial services will be 12pm Friday, Feb 2, 2018 at the church listed above. Memorial contributions may be made to the Perpetual Education Fund of the LDS Church, http://give.lds.org/pef.
