

Larry was born on April 1, 1937 in Tobias, Nebraska to Dallas William Sieckmann and Leona May Young. He was raised in Sidney, Nebraska; graduating in 1955 from Sidney High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea. He loved his country and was proud to have the opportunity to serve.
Larry married Gwen Ayres on August 11, 1963 in Franklin, Nebraska. They moved to Longmont in 1965, where they started a family and became greatly involved in their community for the past 45 years. Larry worked with American Loan Plan, before being recruited and hired by First National Bank, Longmont. For more than 30 years, he cared for, nurtured and enjoyed working with clients and staff. He retired as Executive Vice President and Board member, in 2000.
Larry was a community leader and dearly loved his adopted home of Longmont. He was a long time member of the First Congregational Church, Longmont Lions Club, the American Legion Post #32 and Longmont Elks Lodge #1055. He served on numerous boards and committees including; Longmont Area Chamber of Commerce, Longmont Area Economic Council, Longmont YMCA, Boy Scouts Longs Peak Council, Longmont High School Athletic Booster Club. In retirement, he continued to keep busy and aid the communities he was a part of including; volunteering at Isaak Walton on children’s fishing days, as a starter at Saddleback Golf Course, the Longmont Citizens Volunteer Police and Sundance volunteers at the Surprise Stadium, Mesa, Arizona.
He has also enjoyed his loving grandchildren, with whom he took a daily interest in each of their lives. Larry was an avid sports fan. The Cornhuskers and Broncos have lost one of their most loyal fans.
Surviving are his wife of Longmont; a son Dirk (Tiffany) Sieckmann of Frederick; a daughter Susan (Greg) Scanlan of Ft. Collins; sisters Kathy (Don) Adams of Spring, Texas and Sharon (Ron) Bauerkemper of Northglenn, Colorado; three grandchildren Bailey and Rebecca Scanlan of Ft. Collins and Austin Sieckmann of Frederick, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A cremation has been entrusted to the Howe Mortuary and Crematory.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, December 13, 2012 at the First Congregational Church, 9th Ave. and Francis St. with Reverend Rick King officiating.
Contributions may be made to the Education Foundation for the St. Vrain Valley, to establish a scholarship in Larry’s memory, care of Howe Mortuary, 439 Coffman St., Longmont, CO 80501
