

Lela Hellen (Boone) Osborne, age 96, of Longmont, CO, passed from this life into the arms of her Savior on June 4, 2024. Born a twin on September 7, 1927 in Jacksboro, TX to James and Lena (Frie) Boone. Lela was a devoted servant of the Lord throughout her life.
After her high school graduation in Olney, TX, she married Billy J. Osborne on May 28, 1946. In 1957, they moved with their two young daughters to Farmington, NM.
Lela was a dedicated Baptist church member who enjoyed teaching Sunday school and vacation Bible school. After her daughters graduated from high school, she transitioned from being a homemaker to owning a coffee shop, then working for Metropolitan Life Insurance in Farmington to help pay for her daughters’ college education. In 1970, the family moved to Colorado, where Lela continued to live out her faith through serving as a deaconess, working at the Our Center, membership in Christian Women’s Club, Bible studies and various church activities. She enjoyed sewing, arranging flowers, arts and crafts, and caring for others, especially children.
Lela is survived by her daughters, Carolyn (Martin) Reite and Leta (Dennis) Kuhn as well as Joanna Tschiffely, whom she considered her “adopted daughter.” She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Erik (Andrea) and Aaron (Sarah) Reite, Jennifer (Derek) Rinetti, Roy (Stephanie) and Bill (Janelle) Kuhn, Eric Busick and Christina Lear; along with her thirteen great grandchildren, Jonathan, Chloe, Lily, Anneli, Clara (Reite) Lauren, Garrett, and Ashley (Rinetti), Nathan, Mason, Lyla, Wyatt (Kuhn), and Christian (Lear) as well as five great-great grandchildren.
Lela was pre-deceased by her parents; brothers, Joe and Harvey Boone; sisters, Annie Mae Duncan, twin sister, Leta Ryman, Laverne Pino and by her husband of 68 years, Billy J. Osborne.
Lela’s memorial service will be held on August 2 at 10:30 AM at Howe Mortuary, 439 Coffman Street in Longmont. She will be interred next to her husband at 2:30 PM at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, CO.
