

Leslie M. ?Les? James, 89, of Longmont, died Friday, July 28 2007, at Longmont United Hospital.Les was born May 1, 1918, in Grinnell, Iowa to John W. H. James and Velma (Roby) James. He graduated from Grinnell High School in 1937 and married Mary Frances McSherry on October 2, 1938 in Grinnell.The majority of his career was with United Airlines as an aircraft inspector and maintenance mechanic in Wyoming, Colorado, and California before retiring in December 1979. The James? moved to Longmont in 1983.Les enjoyed working with his hands and could often be found working on a project in his workshop. He was an assistant Scout Master and active with the youth groups and Sunday Schools at the churches he attended. He was a member of Calvary Church in Longmont.He is survived by his wife, Mary James of Longmont; a son, Dennis James and his wife, Pat, of Tucson, Arizona; a daughter, Sharon Wermers, and her husband, Ronald, of Berthoud; 2 step-grandchildren; 6 step-great grandchildren; and 1 step-great-great grandchild.His parents, and two brothers, Robert and Arthur James, had preceded him in death.Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Howe Mortuary and Cremation Services. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 7, 2007 at Calvary Church, Longmont. Private interment of cremains will be in Roselawn Cemetery, Ft.
