Linda Anne Brogan, an extraordinary wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully at home on May 9, 2024, at the age of 79 after a brave battle with pulmonary fibrosis. She was born in Fall River, Massachusetts to Annie and Elmer Riendeau and grew up in the Island Park neighborhood of Portsmouth, Rhode Island. She attended nursing school in her younger years, but she spent a true career helping people problem solve and teaching practical life lessons given her incredible gift of language. Linda had a mind like a steel trap and was the central repository for family stories, birthdays, anniversaries, and other important information. She was a dedicated, talented hand quilter and loved to write short stories, children’s books and poems.
She and her husband, best friend and love of her life for 40 years, Thomas Michael Brogan, lived a true classic romance never leaving each other’s presence without a hug and a kiss. Linda and Michael spent many years traveling, taking care of grandchildren, playing cards, watching hockey and bringing fun and laughter to those around them. Their house was the central meeting spot where friends and family from near and far were always welcomed. Linda lived by the golden rule and showered people with kindness and humor. Linda’s sense of community moved with her throughout the twenty-two zip codes in which she lived.
Linda is predeceased by her parents and stepsons, Bruce Brogan of Birmingham, Michigan, and Steve Brogan of Thornton, Colorado. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Michael Brogan of Longmont, Colorado; sister, Debra Souza of Salisbury, Maryland; brother Wayne Riendeau of Lincoln, Rhode Island; brother Alan Riendeau of Cumberland, Rhode Island; five children, Jameel Khaja, Marcy Potter, Saliha Greff, Brogan Bambrogan, Sara Khaja, and seven grandchildren.
A family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 East Ohio Street, Suite 500, Chicago, Illinois 60611.
You will be dearly missed Linda, but never forgotten. We love you.
