

Lois Ruth Ward, age 87, of Longmont, Colorado passed away surrounded by family and friends on Thursday, April 20th, 2022. Lois was born a quiet and shy girl on June 2, 1935, to Earl and Dorothy Stanke in Cripple Creek, Colorado. The younger of two children.
After graduating from Cripple Creek High School she married Donald Ward, also of Cripple Creek. Her high school sweetheart. Lois started her career at the County Courthouse as a clerk which fostered her lifelong love of numbers. Lois and Don moved several times living in Fort Worth, Texas; Leadville, Colorado and back to Cripple Creek during their early marriage.
Shortly after a move to Commerce City, Colorado she worked as an assistant manager of School District 14 Credit Union, and later retired from School District 12 Credit Union after a long career. Lois loved her family most of all, from leading the girl scout troop, attending Cub Scout, and PTA meetings. She was always there to support and protect. She did not put herself in the forefront, but stood quietly by watching and making sure her family was taken care of.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband Don, and is survived by her three children Danny Ward (Rhonda), Gaylene Pegg (Gary), Kandy Kernes (Keith), 20 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 20th, 2023 at 12:00pm at Roselawn Cemetery, Ft Collins, CO and Friday, May 26th, 2023 at 12:00pm at Pikes Peak National Cemetery in Colorado Springs, CO.
The family asks, in lieu of flowers, donations please be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Cremation is entrusted to Howe Mortuary & Crematory of Longmont, Colorado.
