Lowell Howard Reichenberg

Lowell H. Reichenberg of Longmont, died March 25, 2010 at Longmont United Hospital. He was 79.Lowell was born a twin on January 4, 1931 in Arthur, Nebraska to Hank Reichenberg and Esther (Hurlburt) Reichenberg. Lowell was raised in western Nebraska, graduating from Ogallala High School in l949. After finishing high school he joined the US Navy, serving in the Korean War from 1950-1954. Upon returning from the service he attended Colorado A & M. He married Shirley Peres on July 31, 1955 in Brule, Nebraska. The family moved to Colorado in 1957, living in Ft. Collins, prior to moving to Longmont in 1965.Lowell worked for 30 years for Public Service Company where he was the maintenance supervisor for the Valmont Power Plant, Boulder. He retired in 1993.Lowell's love of the outdoors provided many and various enjoyments. He was first and foremost an avid fisherman, frequenting many local streams. In later years he would enjoy annual trips to Canada for fishing on remote backcountry lakes. He also enjoyed hunting. His pastime and love was tending to his garden and lawn. He was the envy of the neighborhood keeping his lawn in meticulous shape. He was also active with his wife in the Moose Lodge, assisting with set up for many of the events.Preceding him in death are his parents and twin brother Lewis.Surviving are his wife Shirley of Longmont ; a daughter Kim (Gene) Kuehn of Longmont, a son Kirk (Kelene) Reichenberg of Longmont; three brothers Robert Reichenberg of Scottsbluff, NE, Gordon Reichenberg of Haysprings, NE and Clifford (Greta) Reichenberg of Chula Vista, CA; a sister Sharleen Elliott of Modesto, CA; three grandchildren Justin Reichenberg and twin granddaughters Amber and Ashley Reichenberg all of Longmont.A cremation has been entrusted to the Howe Mortuary and Crematory.Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 29, 2010 at the Howe Mortuary.Contributions may be made to the Make A Wish Foundation, 7951 E.
