

Mahlon LeBlanc passed away January 4, 2017 at Sunrise Flatirons in Broomfield, Colorado. He was 96 years old.Mahlon was born on March 20, 1920 in Faribault, Minnesota to George and Margaret (0'Brien) LeBlanc. He attended St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota on a football scholarship. His education was interrupted by service during World War II. He met his future wife, Florence Devin while stationed in San Diego.Upon his release from the Marine Corp he returned to St. Olaf, this time with a wife and child. After receiving an elementary education degree he taught in the suburbs of Houston, Texas and got a Master's Degree in Elementary Education at the University of Houston. He also coached high school football and refereed basketball games during those years.In 1963, he was offered a position as principal of a new school in Longmont, Loma Linda Elementary. During his career he also served as principal at Spangler and Burlington. Mahlon's enthusiasm for his job was obvious, he loved being with his teachers and students.After retirement in 1982, Florence and Mahlon enjoyed many years of the Arizona snowbird lifestyle, and his hobbies transitioned from trout fishing above Show Low, AZ, to creating stained glass artwork. He never lost his love for watching college football games on television, memories of his own college career. Before moving to the Sunrise Flatirons in Broomfield, Mahlon was a resident of the Regent and Hover Assisted Living in Longmont.Mahlon lost his beloved wife of 70 years, Florence, in July of 2016. He was ready to be with her. Mahlon and Florence's devotion to each other was an inspiration to all who knew them. In sickness and in health 'til death do us part.He is survived by sons Michael of LaSalle CO, Steven of Crestone, CO, William of Westminster, CO, and daughter Sandra (John) Engraff of Montrose, CO, Grandson Bill Vance (Cheryl) of Berkeley, CA, and great grandchildren Audrey and Owen Vance.A memorial service for Mahlon and Florence will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel with Fr.
