
Manfred Fred Paul Moritz, 82, of Centennial, CO, formerly of Longmont, passed away September 28, 2013. He was born on August 21, 1931 in Colby, KS to Reverend Emanuel J. and Anna (Whitland) Moritz.Fred graduated from Plattsmouth, Nebraska High School in 1949. He joined the Army on October 7, 1953 and was honorably discharged on October 6, 1955. After the service, he continued his education, graduating from Elmhurst College in June 1957. He married Vera Niesel in Milwaukee, WI on June 24, 1964. Fred worked for the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation with the State of Wisconsin.He was affiliated with the United Church of Christ, an active volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America, Milwaukee County Council, Order of the Arrow, where he received the Silver Beaver Award, the highest honor given to an adult volunteer. Fred moved to Colorado in 2000 to be near his family. He was an avid photographer and outdoorsman, enjoying camping, hiking and cross country skiing.Fred is preceded in death by his parents, wife Vera and son David.Fred is survived by his son Ken (Maura) Moritz of Centennial, CO, daughter Christine Moritz of Frankfort, Germany and grandchildren Caleb Chelini, Mackenzie Moritz and David Moritz.Private family services will be held at a later date. Cremation entrusted to Ahlberg Funeral Chapel & Crematory. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Milwaukee County Council of BSA, 330 South 84th Street, Milwaukee, WI 53214-1468.
