

Margaret Ann Jacobson Tanner, age 89 passed peacefully in her own home on November 20, 2012. She was born March 8, 1923 in Sioux City, Iowa to Carl F. Jacobson and Gladys Glider Jacobson. Margaret Ann attended schools in Sioux City graduating from Central High School in the mid-year class, January 1941. She attended National Business School after graduation and worked as a comptometer operator before marriage in Phoenix, AZ in Dec. 1942 to Cadet Robert Forsling, her high school sweetheart. Lt. Forsling, a World War II fighter pilot in USAF, was killed in June 1944.
In March 1945 Margaret Ann moved to Boulder Colorado to attend the University of Colorado where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1948. She met Henry C. (Hank) Tanner while attending classes and they married in Boulder on June 15, 1948. The couple had three children: Christine Tanner, Henry Charles Jr., and Scott Tanner. The family moved to Longmont in 1958 after briefly living in Greeley.
Margaret combined being a homemaker with working first at Gould, Inc., in Longmont, then several years at Holubar in Boulder and spent her final seven work years at Storage Tek in finance area, before retiring in 1989. After retirement she attended real estate school and received her realtor license in 1990.
She was a member of St. Stephens Episcopal Church, Chapter CJ of PEO after being initiated initially in Chapter CB, Boulder, CO in 1949. She became a PEO Golden Arrow 50 year member in 1996. She was also active with the Pi Phi alums and volunteered in the Meals on Wheels office in Longmont for several years.
She enjoyed sports, aerobics, golf (a member of Nine Holers at Sunset Golf Course), and travel. Family gatherings were always important and she loved spending time with her grandsons and great grandchildren wherever they might be.
She is survived by her daughter Christine (Chris) Tanner (San Francisco), son Henry Charles Tanner, Jr. (Chuck) and his wife Kay, (Littleton, Co) their two sons Austin and his wife Laura, and Michael, a Junior at CSU; son Scott Tanner, his wife Debbie, their two sons, Jason, his wife Stephanie and their son River and daughter Jacie and son Matthew Tanner and his wife Brianna and their sons Jett and Kaii all of Loveland, CO.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 28, 2012, 11:30 a.m. at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 1303 S. Bross Lane, Longmont with internment immediately following in the St. Stephen's Columbarium.
