Marie Roy Cochran

Marie Theresa Roy Cochran, formerly of Springfield and Longmeadow Massachusetts, passed peacefully from this life in the arms of her daughter Nancy in the early hours of Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at the HospiceCare Center in Louisville. She was 86 years old. Marie was born February 3, 1921, in Agawam, MA, to Dr. Emile Alfred and Corrine (Rioux) Roy. She graduated from Agawam High School and attended Stoneleigh College. On June 21, 1941, Marie married her high school sweetheart, John ?Jack? Cochran, in Springfield. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in 2006. After serving in WWII, Jack worked as a chemical engineer for Hercules, Inc. for 44 years. Marie raised three children, Jeffrey, Nancy and Judith, in their home in Longmeadow, MA. She was an active member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Longmeadow, and enjoyed volunteering at area hospitals. She was also an avid bridge player, golfer and shopper, with a keen eye for fashion. The Cochrans retired to Sarasota, Florida for a period of 12 years before moving to the Boulder, Colorado area to be close to their daughter, Nancy, and her family. Those who will miss her include her husband, Jack Cochran, of Louisville, Colorado; son, Jeffrey Cochran of the Philippines; daughters, Nancy Jessop of Longmont, Colorado, and Judith Cochran of Long Island, New York; former daughter-in-law, Ellen-Alisa Saxl of Boulder; and loving niece and ?best buddy?, Linda Downs Siegerson Bryson. Further surviving are grandchildren, Darby Jessop and his wife, Denise, of Loveland, Colorado, and Michael Jessop and his wife, Joanne, of Longmont, Colorado, Ali Cochran of Boulder, Colorado, and James Roy Cochran, also of Boulder, currently serving with the US Marines in Iraq. She was especially proud of her only great granddaughter, Vanessa Jessop. Marie was preceded in death by her parents; a brother Fred Roy; and a sister, Marie Lorraine Roy Downs Shearer. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Howe Mortuary, Longmont. Private memorial services will be held at a later date.
