Marion was born on March 17, 1931, to George H. and Juanita Faye Anderson in Tabor, Iowa. He was raised alongside his two siblings, George Lee Anderson Jr. and Winifred Konrad.
He earned an education in Dairy Industry and Economics from Iowa State University. Alongside his studies, he joined the Armed Forces, gaining valuable knowledge in accounting, distribution, and court reporting. Marion proudly served his country, first as a member of the Army National Guard from 1949 to 1950, and then in the United States Air Force from 1950 to 1953.
On December 15, 1956, Marion married Mary Ward. Together they shared 56 beautiful years of marriage until Mary’s passing in 2012.
Marion moved to the Denver area in 1955, later settled in Longmont, where he and Mary raised their children Pam, David, Bruce and Wanda. Over the years, they also lived in Johnstown and Julesburg, Colorado. Marion and Mary moved to Loveland shortly before Mary’s passing in 2012.
Following his honorable military service, Marion began his professional career, working for the U.S. Rubber Company and the Retail Credit Company in the 1950s. He later dedicated 25 years to the Denver Fire Department. During his tenure, he served as a court reporter for the Arson Bureau, managed payroll, assisted with public relations, and helped prepare the department’s annual budget reports. Marion was later selected and trained as one of the first Denver Fire Department paramedics. He worked as a paramedic until the program was discontinued, after which he transferred to the firehouse near Stapleton Airport, finishing his career as a firefighter in 1986.
Outside of his primary career, Marion worked as a process server, conducting investigations for personal injury attorneys and also transporting vehicles for Chrysler. In retirement, he became a tax preparer with CAM Tax and Accounting and later worked for the Department of Agriculture in Julesburg. Marion and Mary enjoyed volunteering together at the Colorado Welcome Center in Julesburg.
In his free time, Marion loved flying—both for his investigation business and for personal travel across the United States. He also spent many hours farming and caring for his beloved horse, Sandy. After moving to Julesburg, he and Mary traveled extensively in their travel trailer. During the winter months, he often traveled to Casa Grande, Arizona, where he formed many deep and lasting friendships. After Mary’s passing, he cherished the times when his brother joined him in Arizona for a month out of the year.
In 2020, Marion found love again and married Evelyn DeVore. They shared their lives with love and companionship until his passing in 2026. They enjoyed taking a drive every evening, and one of their favorite things was walking around sculpture park in Loveland.
