Marjorie Helen Mikels

Marjorie Helen Mikels passed away January 13, 2012 at Life Care Center of Longmont. She was 90.Marjorie was born August 10, 1921 in Rural Exline Caldwell Township, IA to John Henry and Agnes (Caster) McClurg. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school until the eighth grade.Marjorie married Clennon B. Mikels on May 31, 1942 at the Christian Church Parsonage in Unionville, MO. Together they moved to Longmont in 1964 from Exline, IA. In Longmont Marjorie worked at the Longmont Turkey Plant and Longmont Turkey Hatchery, then at Dual-A-Matic in the Jeep top department. After retirement she worked at Senior Productions.She was a member of Longs Peak United Methodist Church.Marjorie enjoyed sewing, crocheting, flower gardening, volunteering her time crocheting afghans, scarves, mittens and hat sets to give away, cooking, and spending time with her family.She was preceded in death by her husband Clennon in March of 1986; her parents; two brothers John McClurg Jr. and Clifton McClurg; one sister Doris D. Pancrazio; and one great grandson.Marjorie is survived by her sons Jerry (Marlene) Mikels of Longmont and Roger (Barbara) Mikels of Miltonvale, KS; her daughter Kathryn (Marc) Clark of Johnstown, CO; two brothers Robert (Ida Lee) McClurg of Centerville, IA and Jack (Martha) McClurg of Centerville, IA; one sister Berthema Thomasson of Machesney Park, IL; four grandchildren Keith (Sandy) Mikels of Ft. Collins, CO, Rhonda Mikels of South Park, PA, Patricia (Ed) Trejo of Longmont, CO, Rebecca (Len) Wyatt of Kingston, MI; one step granddaughter Kimberly Clark of Ft. Collins, CO; seven great grandchildren, three step-great grandchildren; five step great-great grandchildren; her sister-in-law Ivy McClurg of Centerville, IA; and her brother-in-law Frank Pancrazio of Silvis, IL.Funeral service 11:00 AM Tuesday January 17, 2012 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, with viewing one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions to the Colorado Therapeutic Riding Center or a charity of the donors choice in c/o Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Private burial Foothills Gardens of Memory.
