Marjorie (Margie) Elaine SmithBorn: January 23, 1928Died: October 24, 2017Marjorie Elaine Smith, 89, of Erie, Colorado, passed away October 24, 2017, peacefully in her sleep.The funeral memorial will be held at Erie Methodist Church Saturday November 4th at 11:00AM. Pastor Jim Calhoun will be officiating. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.Born in Augusta, Georgia to George and Ruby Saxon. Marjorie was the fifth of seven children.Marjorie was a Homemaker and was married at age 16 to Edward Smith of Erie, CO on January 23rd, 1944. They were married for 67 years, until Edward passed in 2011. Marjorie lived in the same home for 70 years. She was a member of the Erie Methodist Church for over 50 years, and was active in helping with after church services. Marjorie taught Bible School for 20 years to children, aged 7 through 13. She worked periodically in school lunch rooms, and loved to cook and sew. She made the most unbelievably delicious cherry pies. Marjorie regularly attended Bible Study groups for over 60 years, and was passionate about understanding the word of God. Marjorie had a talent for caring for others, and was considered a second mother to numerous friends and family members. She looked forward to bringing joy to everyone she encountered. She tried to see the very best in everything and everyone. Her gratitude in life was equally reflected, not only in her divine inward beauty, but in her heavenly outward beauty as well. You were such a kind spirit Marjorie. We are grateful for you, and for all your influence.Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal.Marjorie has one daughter Diana Eady and her husband Terry Eady of Johnstown, CO, one Son David Smith and his wife Cindy Smith of Weiser, Idaho. Three granddaughters. Christina Nugent and her husband Elijah Nugent of Loveland, CO. Stephanie Archer and her husband Kevin Archer of Bradenton, FL. Samantha and her husband Stephen Geist of Fort Wayne, IN. Three great granddaughters, Adaelyn Nugent, Rylee Archer and Sarah Geist. Four great grandsons, Caleb Archer, Kade Archer, Tommy Geist and Nicholas Geist. She has many, many, many beloved friends. Too many to countMarjorie is preceded in death by her parents. Her husband Edward, oldest Son Edward Jr., two sisters Lorraine and Dorothy. Three brothers George Jr, Milton and Walter. Her Youngest sister Martha Smith of Augusta, GA remains.Flowers can be sent to Erie Methodist Church, 604 Holbrook St, Erie, CO 80516. If flowers are arranged before Saturday, they can be sent to Ahlberg Funeral Chapel for church delivery.
