

Mark Steven Kachun, at the young age of 55, passed away on January 2, 2009 at his home in Pinewood Springs, CO.Mark was born in McKeesport, PA and graduated from McKeesport High School and Point Park College in Pittsburgh, PA as a Mechanical Engineer. He was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout from the Boy Scouts of America. Throughout his adult life he was respected and employed within the U.S. nuclear industry and received numerous awards for outstanding excellence in his field. Mark was a member of American Legion Post 119 in Estes Park, CO.Mark was known for his smiling face and jovial laugh and as a friend to all, a helping-hand to anyone that needed him, and as a ""Jack of all trades and a Master of all"". All that his hands touched exhibit his diligence to perfection. He was an avid motorcyclist, woodworker, a fan of all types of motor racing, photographer, hunter, woodsman, lover of music, and most of all a collector of motor vehicles of all types, makes, and condition. Mark's career required his presence in many places but he was happiest at home with his family, friends, and projects.He was married to his loving wife Kathleen (nee Davis) Kachun originally of Cleveland, OH. Mark and Kathy were happily married on March 22, 1997 at the Peaceful Valley Ranch in Colorado. Mark is survived by his wife Kathleen; brother Mitchell Allen (Karen) Kachun of Grand Rapids, MI; stepdaughter Ashley Lathrop of Loveland, CO; stepson Skyler Lathrop of Longmont, CO; aunts, many cousins, nieces and nephews, and his faithful dog Sydney ""Good Girl"" Kachun. Passing on before him were his parents Steve and Elsie Kachun of White Oak, PA.Mark will be forever loved and missed by his wife Kathy and all that knew him.Friends and family will be received at a Memorial Celebration held at 11 AM Thursday, January 8, 2009 at Howe Mortuary in Longmont, CO. A reception will follow at Oskar Blues in Lyons, CO. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Mark Kachun Memorial Fund in care of Howe Mortuary.
