

Marlene Kay Rose, 77, died July 31, 2010 at her home in Longmont. She passed quietly and bravely, surrounded by loving family.Marlene, known as ""Jackie"" of ""Jack"" to family and friends, was born February 23, 1933 in Herndon, Kansas. She moved to Boulder in 1942 with her parents, Arthur and Helen (Hafner) Everly, and two older sisters.She met the love of her life, James Miley Rose when she was in eighth grade at Pleasantview School in Boulder. Their courtship continued throughout Jackie's high school years, and they were married on September 2, 1950.Jackie worked for many years as a secretary and receptionist for Boulder County Social Services and later for Harper Rose Masonry. She also did a superb job of raising two children, and always maintained a lovely home.She loved golfing, fishing and traveling. Jackie and her husband spent several years in the 90's touring the country, often spending the winter in Florida with like-minded friends. In recent years, she was always up for a trip to Blackhawk, an afternoon playing bingo, or an evening playing cards with family. She was often the winner.Jackie was a fun, exciting and patient grandmother. As she was a mere 39 years old when her first grandchild was born, she always had plenty of energy for childish games and adventures. She also adored her great grandchildren, including the fuzzy four-legged ones.Jackie is survived by her husband, James (Jim) Rose of Longmont, her children Ken and Barb Rose of Lafayette and Barb White of Longmont, seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren as well as her sisters; Loraine Juhl and Norma Hodgson of Boulder. Jackie was loved and adored by all of her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and a multitude of other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father Arthur Everly and her mother Helen Everly.A memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at Howe Mortuary Chapel.
